Liverpool’s Irish community is huge, and whether you take your cues from Lennon and McCartney, or Carragher and Gerrard, you never have to go far to find a freckled, ginger face with a Scouse accent. Murphy’s Town Hall Tavern is known as a representative of Ireland in Liverpool, bringing a traditional Irish welcome – as well as a fair few pints of Guinness – alongside a full menu with British and international favourites. The menu at Murphy’s includes Irish Stew and beef & stout pie, of course, but also plenty of grilled classics – rump, sirloin and fillet steaks, gammon, chicken breast, lamb rump, salmon – and the likes of fajitas, burgers and chilli con carne. If you take the trip into Liverpool’s Wavertree – you can find them on the High Street, near the Picton Clock Tower – then you’ll not be disappointed by the craic on offer – just remember to book your table in advance, as they do get busy on occasion.
